Student Experience
With sports clubs, societies, performing arts and culturally diverse groups – student culture at the University of Waikato is vibrant, and balances out your studies with fun, enriching experiences.

Your first two weeks
The first two weeks is a time to learn about what support services are available, make new friends, as well as make a start on your studies.

Your campus
Get to know your campus so you can find your way around, get involved and keep up with what’s happening around the university.

Culture and Diversity
We have lots of services available to help make your experience here a great one, whether you’re Māori, Pacific, Australian, mature, LGBTTIQ+ or an international student.

Clubs and Societies
There are many student-run clubs and societies for you to join on campus; ranging from academic and cultural clubs to special interest groups.

Sports
With the largest sports fields of any university in New Zealand and excellent recreational facilities we can cater for all your sporting needs.

Creative and Performing Arts
From music, dance and theatre, there’s something for everyone at the Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts.

Orientation Week
Every semester we put on a week of activities and entertainment to help you get sorted for university. "O Week" is a time for finding your way around, meeting new people and having fun.

The Waikato OE
Our exchange programme lets you earn the same points and pay the same fees as you normally would, while studying at one of our partner universities around the world.
