Biochemistry

Biochemistry – the study of life in chemical terms – is one of the fastest growing areas of modern science. You'll learn about the fundamental molecules of life – proteins, lipids, carbohydrates and nucleic acids – seeking to understand how they interact in living organisms, both in health and disease.

Students studying a Biochemistry minor at the University of Waikato take a combination of papers from the Biological Sciences and Chemistry. It's a vital combination, providing a solid understanding of the molecular and chemical principles underlying Biochemistry.

Biochemistry combines biological and chemical technologies to investigate cellular processes such as how cells communicate with each other during normal and disease states.

The Hicks Scholarship

For students who are enrolled or intend to enrol at any New Zealand University to undertake the research portion of their Masters degree in agriculture, horticulture, arborculture, viticulture or animal husbandry. The Scholarship will have a value of up to $15,000.
