New technologies are revolutionising every aspect of business - from banking and finance to agriculture and healthcare, no industry has been left untouched. Successful businesses of the future will be digitally advanced businesses.
This subject prepares future managers for a fast-evolving world where 'disruptive' digital technologies – such as big data, mobile and gamification – have changed the rules of the game when it comes to business operations, marketing and customer service.
By studying Digital Business at Waikato, you'll be introduced to a wide range of e-business technologies that today's managers need to understand. And you'll develop the ideal blend of managerial, business and IT skills to pursue a career as a tech-savvy manager.
Once you graduate, you'll be in hot demand among companies looking to secure a competitive advantage.
In such roles, you're likely to be working on digital transformation projects with web developers, UX designers and analysts to introduce new technologies that offer superior business performance.
For example, this could mean identifying faster, cheaper ways of gathering and analysing data, or using technology to engage more easily with customers, employees and external suppliers.
Internationally recognised
Waikato is ranked in the world's top 250 universities for Business & Management Studies in the prestigious QS World University Subject Rankings 2017.
You'll study at our internationally recognised Waikato Management School, which is ranked in the top 1% of all business schools worldwide, having achieved Triple Crown Accreditation from AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA in 2005.

Graduates should also take a look at our Master of Digital Business, a 12-month postgraduate course that includes an industry internship; also available to study online.

Practical experience
Digital Business students are encouraged to apply their e-business knowledge learnt in the classroom to practical business situations in the real world.
In DIGIB121 The World of Digital Business, students will gain basic skills in building websites, and learn about Google Sites and mobile apps.
And in DIGIB212 The Techno-Savvy Business, teams of students visit an organisation and interview key staff to find out what the company's IT systems requirements are - just as a real business consultant would. They develop some recommendations around the use of technology solutions, write a formal business report, and then present their findings to the rest of the class.
You'll also get the opportunity to gain some industry experience before you graduate by working at a host organisation, where you'll investigate practical business problems related to the use of digital technology.
